While Keong Saik Road, a street rich in history and heritage, was laid out in the 1920s, it did not receive its name until 1926. Today, this area has evolved into a precinct with heritage stories to tell and an eclectic mix of food and beverage, as well as indie boutiques. The entire hotel's entrance was originally paved with imported Victorian encaustic floor tiles and a veranda, features which where typically used for upmarket residences. Gorgeously detailed and carefully conserved neo-classical wall carvings adorn this hotel while the building itself boasts a traditional Chinese townhouse structure and vestigial Chinese elements. Chinese double-leaf doors and bat reliefs interact with contemporary furnishings and modern amenities that further stylize and enhance this heritage hotel's experience.
